Art Deco Jewellery from the Big Screen

Baz Luhrmann's take on F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic 1925 novel hit the big screen in 2013 and introduced a whole new generation of fashionistas to the joys of Art Deco jewellery. Starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Carey Mulligan, the blockbuster boasted lavish costumes and stunning jewels.

Brilliant Designs and Recreations

Costume designer Catherine Marshall created a magnificent collection of items, including many pieces of jewellery that were specially recreated by Tiffany & Co. using archival drawings from the 1920s, which gave the film a real air of authenticity.

In the film, you can see a wonderful selection of some of the most popular styles of the time, including a huge range of fabulous cocktail rings and iconic diamond headbands. Boasting bright gems, bold patterns and geometric shapes, the style has a very distinctive look and is always incredibly opulent.

The resurgence of interest in Art Deco designs has kick-started a whole new trend. If you'd like to steal the style, look out for pieces that take inspiration from the 1920s but have their own modern twist. Choose stunning combinations of silver with freshwater pearls and onyx or gorgeous platinum pieces with flashy, intricately designed patterns and get some Gatsby glamour of your own.
